Installing Required Software
If the software is required, you'll get notifications from Windows that software is required.
- You can click on the notification, or click the up arrow by the clock (as pictured below)

- Click on the Software Box (above)
- Click on Open Software Center (below)

- Once the Software Center dialog comes up (it may take a moment), you can:

- Click "Apply all required changes now" or "Apply all outside business hours" (above in green) then click OK
-or-
- Click View Details (above in red) to see what software is actually going to be installed
- When the Software Center opens (below), you can see what programs are available to install
- The Status column shows a required program's installation deadline. Please note, if an installation deadline is reached:
- The software may be installed automatically at any time
- If the installation requires a restart, you will have 90 minutes to do so or the computer will force one
- You can check any program(s)/update(s) you want to install immediately and click the Install/Install Selected button
- If you want to install the program(s)/update(s) later, you can check them, then click Schedule/Schedule Selected or simply close out of the Software Center windows.

Installing Optional Software
To install optional software on Windows 8/8.1:
- Click the Start button
- Type "Software" (in Windows 8/8.1, there is no search box, just start typing)
- In the Search Results, click on Software Center

- Once the Software Center window opens, select the software you want to install by either:
- Click to highlight the program you want
- If you want to install multiple programs, check the boxes on the left of the programs you want

- Click the Install/Install Selected button. After a few moments, the status should update to show the installation process has begun
- You can close the Software Center at any time during the installation process, the installation will continue in the background
